This year Cancer Research UK have been chosen to be the official partner for National Go Canoeing week, so why not join British Canoeing on a paddling adventure and help us beat cancer sooner!

Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research. Their groundbreaking work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer has seen UK survival rates double in the last 40 years.

Cancer Research UK doesn’t receive any government funding for their research, so every step towards beating cancer relies on every pound raised by amazing people like you.

Fundraising Ideas

Whether you want to take on an individual challenge, or enjoy National Go Canoeing week with family and friends, turn your paddling into pounds and get motivated with one of our fundraising ideas.

Individual Ideas:

Take the leap: If you have never tried paddling before why not use this week as your chance to take that step onto the water. Encourage your family and friends to sponsor you to get on the water at one of our events

Mileage challenge: Set yourself a personal paddling mileage challenge for the week and ask people to sponsor you per mile that you achieve.

Plan an adventure: Why not use this week to plan a paddling adventure? No matter how big or small, try something different and get sponsored for completing it.

Train up for a challenge route: Take part in a National Go Canoeing Week challenges or train up for an independent adventure, on one our Challenge Routes, and get sponsored for completing it

Commute by kayak for the week: Get sponsored to paddle to work - obviously it helps if you live or work near the water.

Team or Group Ideas:

Organise some fun social events: use the week as an opportunity to host fun events at your club such as cake sales, BBQ’s, auctions and open days. The opportunities are endless and it’s a great opportunity for your paddling friends to get together.

Fancy dress paddle: encourage friends/members to pay and join in!

Group mileage challenge: help us on our way to 30,000 miles with a collective mileage challenge. Plan a group trip and get people to sponsor you per mile, or organise a paddleathon on an ergo and ask people to sponsor your time.

Sponsored litter pick: clean up your local river or canel and ask people to sponsor you on the weight of the rubbish you collect.

We know that lots of you will be keen to start planning your fundraising activities and to get this off to a great start. We are currently putting together a range of materials to help you on your way, and over the coming weeks we will be updating the website with online fundraising packs and details of how you can set up your own online fundraising page using Virgin Money Giving!

We are so excited to begin the partnership and start raising funds for life-saving research. We’re incredibly grateful for your energy and efforts, thank you so much for deciding to join us.
