National Go Canoeing Week 2015
We are an ambitious lot here at Go Canoeing and always strive to make National Go Canoeing Week bigger and better. We want you to help us with that so thought we had better let you know last year’s facts and figures so you can set some targets!
In 2015 Matthew Allen impressed us all by racking up the biggest individual mileage during National Go Canoeing Week. He paddled a cracking 125 miles during the week and won himself £500 worth of paddling gear and clothing from Palm Equipment!
The winners of the biggest club mileage for the week were the Canoe Camping Club. Their members paddled a grand total of 2789 miles between them and bagged the club the prize of a brand new Dagger Katana Kayak from Palm Equipment.
During the week a fantastic 10,500 people took part and registered their miles with us. Some people paddled one mile, some three and some lots lots more!
We also had our first completion of Go Canoeing’s Three Lakes Challenge in under twenty-four hours. Matt, Steve and Andy from Peninsula Canoe Club, along with a great back up team, achieved the lengths of Llyn Tegid in Wales, Lake Windermere in England and Loch Awe in Scotland, as well as the travel time inbetween, in just 20 hours and 3 minutes!
The record now stands at 19 hours and 44 minutes – could you beat it during National Go Canoeing Week 2016?!
However you decide to take part and however far you want to paddle be sure to Register Your Miles with us to help us smash this year’s target of 30,000 miles paddled!
